10/8/2022 I don’t know how many people said, “oh my gosh, you’re going to Maine! You gotta get the lobster while you’re there!” I’ve never liked lobster, but I’ve never had lobster from Maine..so without further ado…
Baked stuffed lobster at saltwater grille in Maine
Yes! It was as big as it looks in the picture! 1-1/2 LBS! The meat was tender, and it was good and fresh… but for me, already having an aversion to most seafood. It was not working. I just don’t have a hankering for lobster.
Me thinking.. this is huge
Then seeing his claws, the legs, the tail the whole lobster 🦞 it was like eating a hamburger served in a cows head or a chicken sandwich with its little chicken feet dancing on top of the bread. But, no regerts! Had to try it, from where it comes, just in case…as most people say, you gotta get it fresh.
Mitch got a Lobster roll
I’m telling ya people.. I tried it and I don’t like it. Its like sushi, and people be like, oh well you just haven’t had good sushi.. no, it’s just that I don’t like sushi. I’ve tried it plenty of times.. another thing, I don’t like s’mores. There I put it out there. It’s a crumbly, sticky, not good enough for the hassle of dessert. Give me a fruit roll up any day.
What do you think Mitch thought of his lobster experience? Answer down below..
We went to the Portland Head Light after lunch. we scootered about, making something that would’ve been super tough on our backs, tolerable. Yay scoots!
The most photographed light house Portland Head LightMitch looking up at the light house Cape Elizabeth Portland light house Where the poet satI sat and this what I looked up to see, does this a poet make me? 1901On our way down to the beach we got a fresh angle of the lighthouseI finally got to wear one of my hats! As did MitchWe FINALLY used a beach blanket and pillow I got at a yard sale 3 years ago! I knew someday we’d use it. Our backs got sore so we laid up against each other and searched in the sand. Forest Gump style We found blue today!
The answer of Mitch’s lobster time… well while in Maine give it a shot, but I’ll stick to bacon over lobster any day of the week!
10/7/2022 once we got cell reception and could map our path it looked like this
We started with three lighthouses to visit
As we drove along we amended our sights to one light house.. Marshall Point
Marshal point light house and museum Can you guess what movie this light house was in?It was low tide so we went way out on the rocksI was so distracted by the cool rocks I actually dropped my phone between the rocks into the ocean!! not even trying to take a picture… just staring at some rocks
Mitch had to reach down about a foot into the water between the rocks to search for my phone! Thankfully, it’s still working.. a couple cracks on the screen protector, but other than that, all good. Yay my sweetheart!
I’ll give you a hint of what movie this was in.. He was runn-ing That’s right, it’s Forest Gump. This was the lighthouse he turned around at, and kept runn-ing Mitch took this pic of the sunlight shining on the Lighthouse. That’s me on the rocksThe museum inside List of the lighthouse keepersLighthouse from the museum It was a beautiful day!Timeline of lighthouseTimeline continues about lighthouse
We hopped in ol Harvy and went on our way towards our campground in Caso, Maine. Along the way so many colors of trees. We started naming them after ice cream flavors.
We got orange sorbet, blackberry, lemon zest, strawberry jubilee-tree flavor colors A great place to hunt for treasures along the way. It’s in Wiscasset, MaineA drive by pic of the town of Woolwich, MEWe had to pull over for this beauty!Info about the bridgeAndroscoggin bridge View from bridgeBurning bush near bridgeView From Bridge Drive by photoWe arrived at Willard Beach at Casco Bay Took a little walk and found seashells and some sea glassWe kept the rocks that look like sticks, they’re great for digging in the sand when sea glass hunting. Mitch had to keep the claw he found. Maybe we’ll make it into a necklace hahaCascadia Park camping in south Portland Maine
When we arrived at the RV park we were greeted by an older gentleman who walked us around to let us pick what site we wanted. While we walked we learned he started the campground, cleared and dug everything by hand back in the day.. he is now 93 years young!
There’s a little pond when you first turn into the campground, Mitch got this picture this morning going for a ride on Scooter McGavin And this one, Sunrise over The Bridge next to the pond!
Thanks for traveling along with us! The next couple weeks we got Massachusetts, New York City, and Washington DC
10/6/2022 Anytime I’ve heard of Fort Knox, I think, that’s where the gold is. Come to find out, the OG Fort Knox is in Maine, between Acadia and Portland. we drove for about an hour, but it took us 2 because we kept stopping.
Leaving the beautiful campgrounds of Lamoine
As we drove through one small town after another we were distracted by all the colors poopin.
Union River in Ellsworth
Mitch had a feeling about a place we passed, so he turned Harvy around and down into an RV park.
Patten Pond Camping Resort
I popped out to snap some pictures and as soon as I was back in Harvy, the golf cart man came to us. He was very friendly, thankfully, since we’d broke the rule about checking in.. we told him we were just checking out the place since we’d be in the area. Just the glass reflection on the water we were looking for.

We finally arrive at Fort Knox!

We headed towards Camden hills state park campground.. on the way we saw a place that takes the cake when it comes to organized chaos!
Inside was packed, as if a butterfly would’ve landed on something inside, a shelf would’ve came down, and started a domino effect along with everything in it! It was even too much for me and we didn’t buy anything We made it to Camden Hill state park, and got site #4 with a turning tree! Harvy felt extra special Camden Hill state Park in MaineWe scooted around for a while, there wasn’t cell reception so this post is a day lateIn the morning we made like a tree, and had to leafMitch was up early and got a sunrise picture at Camden State Park from the south loop
10/5/2022-You acadian me! It was beautiful and it was packed with people! You’d a thought there was a concert or something happening!
We entered at hulls cove visitor centerUmmm, I think the leaf peeps are out and loving nature Stuff to knowMore stuff to knowPicture of the stuff that now you knowMost of the loop is one way and they allow parking on the right side of the road or portions of it. This is between sand beach and thunder hole
As we sat on the rocks, amazed at how perfect the temperature was, we got company.
This guy just landed right beside us, said he was ready for his close up, welcomed us to Acadia and then flew off
As we entered into the park, the ranger gave us a map with the bridge heights for RV’s. To be safe Mitch climbed on top, measured the air conditioner, then dropped the tape down to me on the ground to get the correct measurement.
Harvy made it through with a height of 10’10” Harvy makes friends wherever he goes, people riding bikes passed him giggling and saying ,”Harvy the RV” Jordan pond.. there was literally no where to park at this attraction for miles.. so Mitch dropped me off and I walked down the short trail, while he drove through the parking lot and waited for me. The drive was beautiful
As we made it back to where we began I was looking forward to riding the carriage road. This is where you can see some of the bridges designed by Rockefeller. I thought I had read enough about it, so ya- Take the trail passed witch’s hole. Here’s the thing, electric scooters are not allowed. (So said the Ranger)You can bike ( or if you have an electric bike) walk, horse drawn carriage ride or you can rent an electric bicycle. We opted to just ride our bikes. I mean, it shouldn’t be too far, right? Just to see a few bridges. No need to stop in for information, it’s too crowded for that, it’ll be fine….
This first hill is so steep we both ended up walking the bikes up it!
Ok, one hill, not a big deal. Gotta see them there bridges. Ahh we go down a hill. Better. What another hill? Ok, it’ll be worth it. Oh and btw, my gears are stuck so I need Mitch to wrench it back to first gear! You should’ve seen me trying to peddle my bike in the hardest gear up that second hill! Ha! The people walking behind me… I say to them, “ you didn’t see me struggle did ya?” And the guy replied, “ nope, didn’t see a thing.” And then… they passed me!
It would help if they noted how far things were, I think we should’ve asked for the special bridge mapThe carriage trail is well kept and gravel
At this point I am spent, my legs, a combination of cramping and feeling like jello. Mitch, knowing this was something i wanted to do, just trusted me to know where we were going… I chose the flattest path because by then I just assumed there’d be a bridge either direction.. WRONG! Mitch patiently waited for me at the top of each hill and we ended up asking people who were coming from the direction we were going… how much further? Yeah.. we had to go back up a hill and down a hill to go the correct way.
Witch’s hole (I think?) or which hole is it?
By this time, I don’t want to see bridges.. just one. One bridge, how much farther? We see another group of people (all chillin and happy with their electric bikes) and ask again about seeing a bridge. One lady says, it’s about a mile further, and it has water flowing under it. Oooh, ok, I’m revitalized… until another hill! Ok, that’s it, I’m walking the hills!
We made it to a bridge!
I was so whooped after we made it to the bridge I didn’t ever read about it. I just took this pic, walked my bike to the center of the bridge and what do I see on the other side of the bridge? I see cars!! Are you kidding me?! We could’ve drove to it? What! What do all these people know that we don’t? I still don’t know, and am ok with that. I’m just gonna get me some pictures!
It’s a threefer, ya know, three bridge holes for one stop (if you know the name, please let me know) Steps to walk down to the creek and under the bridgeMy man, my sweet, patient, loving man. I yell to him when I get to the bottom, “Rapunzel, let down your hair! I will rescue you!” He plays along, flipping his imaginary hair.Creek under three hole tunnel (not the true name of it)Mitch up on the bridgeNice couple and their dog, they took a few pics of us together and we did the same for them Acadia national parkAcadia national parkWe head back the way we came, thanks to Mitch’s navigation skills, or I think we’d still be out thereThe way back didn’t seem as arduous, mainly because Mitch was so encouraging, saying only one hill to go up (but really there were three!)We stopped on the way back to our campsite and got some good grubTruffle fries & onions rings with a big appetite we did two appetizersMitch got a bacon Swiss burgerI got a pulled pork sandwich
If you’re ever out by Bar Harbor in Maine it’s a great place to go. Great service and delicious food.
